Michael Reafsnyder will present a public artist talk via WebEx on Oct. 3, 2024 at 5 p.m. in the Robert and Freda Harrison Auditorium in Giles Hall.
Reafsnyder's saturated, eye-candy abstract paintings are a dive into joy, adventure and the unknown. Don't be fooled though; he has taken his obsession with chance into a sharply honed process of very sudden decision-making.
He seeks to "make a painting that rewards continued and repeat viewing, always revealing something new." While acknowledging the tethers of art history, Reafsnyder balances nods to the past with full-fledged acrobatics complete with "thrills, chills and spills."
Reafsnyder is faculty at Claremont Graduate University's Master of Fine Arts Studio Art program. He is represented by Miles McEnery Gallery in New York City and has exhibited nationally and internationally.
