Gulf Coast Community Design Studio holds a community day at MLK Park

The event was part of the Magnolia Bayou Watershed Project.

The Mississippi Â鶹´«Ã½ University Gulf Coast Community Design Studio recently held a community day at the Martin Luther King Park located on Washington Street between St. Francis Street and Old Spanish Trail in Bay St Louis.

Volunteers were invited to participate in the following activities:

• Planting Three Educational Gardens (Edible, Pollinator, and Wetland) 

• Installation of Bird Boxes Built by Students at the Hancock County Unit of the Boys and Girls Club 

• STEM and Art Activities Facilitated by Steve Barney and the Bay St Louis Creative Art Center 

Refreshments were provided by the Rotary Club of Bay St Louis. 

This event was part of the Magnolia Bayou Watershed Project supported by the Gulf Research Program of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. Magnolia Bayou is an important coastal stream that flows into the Bay of St Louis. The watershed is around 800 acres and includes much of downtown Bay St Louis.
