Alumni Exhibit
50 years of MSU S|ARC alumni!
Starting October 20, 2023 in the Charlotte and Richard McNeel Gallery in Giles Hall and moving to the Jackson Center in 2024.
All alumni are encouraged to submit, creating a comprehensive review of the design work produced by those who have attended our school.
The exhibition of the printed submissions will be curated by MSU Architecture Students.
Information about exhibit submissions:
- Only one submission per alumni; prints will not be returned.
- Submissions may be of projects from firms in which alumni have worked.
- All submissions will be printed on an 11" x 17" sheet (horizontal orientation only) in color. (Please note images will not bleed to the edge of the paper.)
- Submissions may include photos, drawings, and/or text, but please consider legibility on this size of paper. QR codes may reference additional work.
- Please include AT A MINIMUM your name so that it will be visible when the submission is printed. Additional identifying information is encouraged.
- Submissions must be in a PDF format (minimum resolution 300 DPI)
- Submissions MUST BE RECEIVED by 5 p.m. on Thursday, October 5, 2023.
- There is a $25 submission fee to cover the costs of printing and raise funds for the school. Payment can be made here:

50th Anniversary Chautauqua
Jess Zimbabwe, Key Critic and Advisor

At the founding of the Mississippi Â鶹´«Ã½ University School of Architecture, the dean and faculty of the school invited outstanding practitioners and academics to come to campus and take on a design challenge, the Chautauqua. The Chautauqua was conceived as a collaboration between the School of Architecture and the Center for Small Town Research and Design (the former name of the current research center the ) at the inception of the Small Town Center in October 1979. For the 50th anniversary of the school, we are taking up this program again on October 20-22, 2023.
The school is inviting Jess Zimbabwe, Executive Director at Environmental Works in Seattle and former director of the Daniel Rose Center for Public Leadership, as well as alumni, past faculty and administrators to work with the School of Architecture for the Chautauqua. The project will be to create prototype mobile disaster relief stations that would provide food, information, and other needed services to rural communities.
Teams to take on this challenge will consist of alumni team leaders and first through fifth-year students. The alumni leaders will guide and challenge the work of each team over the weekend with the help of Zimbabwe. At the end of the weekend, a discussion of the work will take place. This format will allow our alumni team leaders to connect to our current students in a direct and fun-filled way.
