4A: Fourth-Year Herrington Topical Studio

Fourth-Year | Fall Semester

Topical design studio where students work with real-world clients and current issues to address the needs of both the client and communities in which the projects reside. Students do this through the design of architectural elements, integration of building systems, and the consideration of environmental factors. Studios often engage in the research of the faculty coordinator as well during these topical studios.

This studio is funded by Poole & Company Architects PA, a firm located in Birmingham, Alabama. Monetary awards are given to students based on their final jury project.

A collage of about fifteen to twenty different photos. Some of them blueprints mapping out the area. The rest are mock-reality photos of what the place would look like. The area is grassy and full of trees, a stream of water runs through the area, with white steps connecting it to the grass. People are sitting on these steps. Another photo shows this tunnel-like area with a red path cutting through it.

It is a complex that consists of multiple different buildings, each with a light body, and a red brick roof. You can see people walking around, one walking his bike. The rest of the photos are mapped out blueprints of the low zone.
