Building Construction Science Scholarships

Application Process

To be eligible for building construction science scholarships at Mississippi Â鶹´«Ã½ University, students must fill out the general scholarship application by the appropriate deadline. 


Steps to apply for Scholarships at MSU

  • Student must be admitted.
  • Log in to your MyÂ鶹´«Ã½ account using your NetID and NetPassword.
  • On the Banner tab, under the Financial Aid and Scholarships column, click "Submit/Revise General Scholarship Application."
  • A new window will pop up, and you'll need to log in again using your NetID and NetPassword.
  • When you're logging in for the first time, you'll need to complete the general application.
  • Don't forget to click the "Save" button! When you're returning after your first log-in, you'll be able to see your saved information.

After you complete and submit your general application, you may have additional opportunities recommended to you based on your test scores, GPA, leadership and service, and applicant record. More opportunities may become available over time, so we encourage you to log in regularly and check your account to see if any additional recommendations appear.

Incoming Freshmen: December 1 (for the following academic yr.)

Entering Transfer Students and Current Mississippi Â鶹´«Ã½ Students: March 1 (for the following academic yr.)


Mississippi Â鶹´«Ã½ University Building Construction Science-Specific Scholarships

In addition to scholarships offered through the Mississippi Â鶹´«Ã½ University Office of Admissions and Scholarships and other scholarships, there are a variety of scholarships available for students pursing a Bachelor of Science degree in building construction science. The number of scholarships awarded and scholarship dollar amounts vary by year:


Department Scholarships

Abbey Burnett Bridges Endowed Scholarship 

  • Full-time females who have completed their second-year in the BCS program.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Demonstrated leadership and academic excellence in the program.

Brislin, Inc. Annual Scholarship 

  • Minimum of 2.75 GPA.
  • Of good moral character.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.

Chip & Jennifer Crane Endowed Scholarship 

  • Students in good standing.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Demonstrated financial need.

Hoar Construction Annual Scholarship

  • Second or third-year students in Building Construction Science.
  • Students in good standing.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability/potential.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.

Kline Mechanical Systems Annual Scholarship 

  • Incoming freshmen.
  • Strong high school academic record and leadership experience.

Mississippi Contractors Endowed Scholarship 

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Demonstrated financial need.

MS Associated Builders & Contractors Scholarship Fund 

  • Incoming freshmen majoring in Building Construction Science.
  • Demonstrated strong high school academic record.
  • Demonstrated strong high school leadership experience.

Stanley Ross Black Memorial Annual Scholarship

  • Full-time students majoring in Building Construction Science. 
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Demonstrated financial need.

T. Duane Watson Annual Scholarship

  • Two full-time students each year majoring in Building Construction Science.
  • Preference given to first-generation students.

Yates Construction Co. Annual Scholarship  

  • Member of Black Student Alliance or an African American student.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities through extracurricular involvement.

Loyalty Scholarships

Boral Bricks Loyalty Scholarship

  • Incoming freshman and transfer students majoring in the College of Architecture, Art & Design 
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Transfer students must have a minimum of 48 transferable community college credit hours.

Columbus Brick Company Loyalty Scholarship

  • Incoming freshman and transfer students majoring in the College of Architecture, Art & Design 
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Transfer students must have a minimum of 48 transferable community college credit hours.

Mississippi Concrete Industries Association Loyalty Scholarship

  • Incoming freshman and transfer students majoring in the College of Architecture, Art & Design 
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Transfer students must have a minimum of 48 transferable community college credit hours.

External Scholarships 

There are numerous scholarships available nationally to students who major in building construction science.

ACCE Dupree Scholarships

The Dupree Education Committee offers two $5,000 scholarships annually (the National Housing Endowment’s scholarship and the Dan Dupree Construction Education Scholarship) to individuals who have had a career in the construction industry and are now interested in pursuing a career as a college or university instructor. The scholarships are awarded to students that attend an American Council for Construction Education (ACCE) construction management post-graduate degree program.

National Association of Â鶹´«Ã½ Contractors Licensing Agencies (NASCLA) Scholarship Program

The National Association of Â鶹´«Ã½ Contractors Licensing Agencies (NASCLA) Contractors Scholarship Program is designed to help students pursue licenses, certificates and/or certifications in the construction industry preparing them for gainful employment. These scholarships provide a chance for three (3) recipients to be awarded money towards program tuition. The scholarship awards include a complimentary invite package to the NASCLA Annual Conference for each recipient, including travel arrangements, hotel, and scholarship award money to go toward your education. 

NASCLA Contractor Scholarship Program awards provide the opportunity to receive industry-wide recognition, networking opportunities, mentorship from an industry professional, the option to participate in a moderated panel discussion and a certificate of attendance. For updates and more information on this scholarship, visit

StoneCraft Kitchen and Bath Design And Construction Scholarship

An annual scholarship for students who are interested in studying Design, Architecture, Interior Design, or Construction Management.
