Emotional Interactions
My thesis visualizes emotional responses from three of my male friends. These portraits are interacting images, that were comprised by conversations and active engagements from my male friends. In addition, these pieces capture a specific emotional moment from our interactions, also using color and light to enliven the interacting portraits. I want the audience to understand the distinct attitudes employed by each subject. My reason on choosing this subject matter for my thesis was to emphasize how expressive colors can portray human emotions.
Each individual portrait engages the subject’s emotion through specific color choice and textural applications. My decision on color choice was to emphasize and capture the true essence with the emotional feelings of my male friend’s emotion. My thesis portraits were comprised from the influence of Alex Garant’s work. I incorporate colors that emphasize the individual subject and their emotional outlook. The inclusion of colored light bulbs compliment each subject’s emotional “moment.”
The three pieces signify moments of sociality, introversion, and provocation, which compliments my choice of emotions within each individual subject, being happiness, calmness, and anger. While also, incorporating colored backgrounds to correspond with the particular emotions.
