22-Piece Dinnerware Set
Artist 麻豆传媒ment
My motivation for creating this body of work comes from my interest in functional vessels and traditional ceramic items such as plates, bowls, and cups. I really admire the idea that something I made with my own hands could be a part of someone鈥檚 everyday life or have a place in their home. I am interested in making a personal connection between myself as the maker of the object and the user of each individual piece.
My work revolves around the idea that I can create a sense of fluidity and personality on the surface of each piece, while also allowing the user to draw the conclusion that each vessel was handmade. I do this through the application of clay slip, which allows me to create a fluid surface quality that adds personality and character. The fluid surface allows the user to see each piece as once being a malleable material that was shaped and altered by human hands.
